Purper Winde

Purper Winde Bed and Breakfast

Swellendam is a charming village situated at the foot of the Langeberg Mountains, famous not only for its “braambessies”, but also for its eclectic architecture, fascinating past and great outdoor life.

Geographically, Swellendam is well situated on the N2 – halfway between Cape Town and George. Swellendam offers enchanting surroundings, flora and fauna, nature reserve, national park, sport and recreation, hiking trails and best of all relaxation and tranquillity. There must be few towns in the world where so many picturesque buildings nestle under a mountain backdrop of such grandeur.

Here, in the third oldest town in South Africa, you will find
Purper Winde on the banks of the Koornlands River.

What we have to offer:

Relax in the informally elegant lounge around a log fire. We do not regret – no TV.

Honeymoon suite in the loft with Victorian bathroom en suite and Queen Anne stove.

Enjoy sundowners on the deck or look at the stars at night and if you are lucky, watch the bushbuck grazing in the garden.

A bride relaxing before the big event – one of many pictures taken in and around Purper Winde.

Magnificent views of the exquisite Langeberg Mountains with sounds of the river meandering through the wooded garden.

Explore for waterfalls; indulge in leisurely river walks or simply watch as guinea fowl, buck and occasionally baboons forage through Ericas and natural Fynbos.

Snow-capped mountains (seasonal).
